AMBULATORY CARE ADDITION AND LABORATORY RENOVATION, SAM RAYBURN MEMORIAL VETERANS CENTER
Increased patient loads at the North Texas VAMC in Bonham, Texas required a new ambulatory care center and a supporting pathology laboratory. The new ambulatory care clinic includes 82 new clinical spaces for everything from telemedicine to dietitians to respiratory care accommodated in +/-13,000 SF of renovated space and 17,600 SF of adjoining building addition. Work included abatement of ACM flooring.
The new pathology lab is accommodated in an 4,750 SF renovation of a portion of the first floor of Building 1, including facilities for specimen collection, clinical chemistry, radioimmunoassay, blood bank, histology, hematology, immunopathology and supporting spaces.
The project also included redesign of the main building entrance to meet new patient needs, security standards and to conform to ABAAS and ADA accessibility
requirements, expansion of the main parking lot and the development of a memorial garden.
The areas HVAC system was redesigned to meet current code and VA energy conservation goals and there was 6,000 SF provided for unoccupied mechanical space.
